غالب انسٹی ٹیوٹ 

1966ء میں جب ڈاکٹر ذاکر  حسین نائب صدر جمہوریہ ہند تھے تو انہوں نے غالب کی صد سالہ یادگار 1969ء میں شایان شان طریقے سے منانے کے خیال کا اظہار کیا.1967ء میں ڈاکٹر ذاکر حسین نے ایک میٹنگ طلب کی اور اس میں فخرالدین علی احمد (سابق صدر جمہوریہ ہند) کو غالب کمیٹی کے سیکریٹری کی ذمہ داری سونپی.ڈاکٹر صاحب  نے سر پرست اعلی ہونا منظور کیا اور اس وقت کی وزیر اعظم اندرا گاندھی صدر منتخب ہوئیں. مرکزی سرکار نے ١/١.١١٩  ایکڑ زمین الاٹ کی اور 14 فروری 1968ء کو ذاکر صاحب نے اس عمارت کا سنگ بنیاد رکھا.سوسائٹیز ایکٹ کے تحت آل انڈیا غالب سینٹنیری کمیٹی رجسٹرڈ ہوئی.

کسی بھی تنظیم کے لئے فنڈ کی فراہمی سب سے اہم بات ہوتی ہے اس وقت کی مرکزی اور صوبائی حکومتوں کے علاوہ ملک کے معروف صنعتکاروں غیر سرکاری اداروں اور اہل ثروت حضرات نے دل کھول کر مالی عطیے دیے۔فنڈ کی فراہمی کے لئے خواتین کی ایک کمیٹی بیگم عابدہ احمد کی صدارت میں قایم کی گئی اور اس کمیٹی نے ملک میں مختلف کلچرل پروگرام کرکے کثیر رقم اکٹھا کی.

 16 فروری 1969ء کو دلی میں صد سالہ عالمی جشن غالب کی تقریبات شروع ہوئیں. جن میں ہندوستان کی سربرآوردہ ادبی شخصیات کے علاوہ دنیا کے کئی  ممالک کے علماء نے شرکت کی.

جناب فخرالدین علی احمد نے خطبہ استقبالیہ پڑھا اور وزیر اعظم محترمہ اندرا گاندھی نے صد سالہ یادگار غالب کمیٹی کی صدر کی حیثیت سے صدر جمہوریہ اور غالب کمیٹی کے سر پرست اعلیٰ ڈاکٹر ذکر حسین سے غالب صدی کی تقریبات کا افتتاح کرنے کی گزارش کی.

صد سالہ یادگار غالب کی تقریبات کے سلسلے میں بین الاقوامی سیمینار ،مشہور تاریخ داں اور محقق ڈاکٹر یوسف حسین خان کی نگرانی میں ہوا.جس میں بیرون ممالک کے دانشوروں کے علاوہ ملک کے کئی بڑے ادیبوں اور مورخوں نے شرکت کی.

جشن کے تقریبات کے بعد یادگار غالب کمیٹی کو ایک مستقل ادارے غالب انسٹیٹیوٹ میں بدل دیا گیا.وہ عمارت جس کا حصّہ 1969ء  میں بنا تھا ،جو اب ایک بین الاقوامی اہمیت کا مرکز بن گیا ہے.اس عمارت میں غالب آڈیٹوریم کی عمارت الگ ہے ، اس عمارت میں فخر الدین علی احمد ریسرچ لائبریری ہے جس میں تقریبا بیس ہزار کتابیں ہیں.محققوں ،نقادوںاور خاص طور سے غالب پر تحقیق کرنے والوں کو اس لائبریری سے کافی مدد ملتی ہے اس کے علاوہ اس عمارت میں غالب میوزیم بھی ہے جسمیں غالب کے عہد کے نادرات بڑے ہی سلیقے اور قرینے سے رکھے ہیں.

غالب انسٹیٹیوٹ کے قیام کا بنیادی مقصد غالب اور عہد غالب کی تفہیم قرار پایا تھا جس کے حصول کے لئے مختلف سمتوں میں کام جاری ہے.

Ghalib Institute

The idea of founding a fitting memorial to Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib was first mooted by a committee formed under patronage of Dr. Zakir Husain,late President of India to celeberate Ghalib Centenary in 1969. Mrs.Indira Gandhi, then Prime Minister was appointed the president and Mr. Fakhrudddin Ali Ahmed (also a former President of India) the secretary of the committee. As a result of the endeavours of this committee Ghalib Institute was established in 1971. It is now a well-know Institute, actively engaged in various academic and cultural fields, managed by a Trust of eminent peopleThe Institute is housed in its own premises known as Aiwan-e-Ghalib. It has an office block, a library [Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Research Library], a museum, an auditorium and a guesthouse. The Institute celebrated its Silver  Jubilee in 1992.

 Our International seminar is an annual feature, which is usually organized in the month of December. We have also organized seminars on some of Ghalib’s contemporaries-such as Bahadur Shah Zafar, Zauq, Momin. Each year we also felicitate some eminent scholar for his life time contribution to literature. Ghalib Institute has always had the good fortune of having the support and association of scholars of the highest merit. The Institute’s Ghalib Awards, which are given in the spheres of Urdu prose, poetry, criticism, and drama etc. are considered highly prestigious in academic world.

 

Ghalib is popular not only amongst the researchers and academicians but also amongst the people at large. The Institute, therefore, has always had a two-pronged approach in popularising and promoting Ghalib’s works in the literary spheres as well as in the cultural arena. The Hum Sub drama group, which is a part of the Institute and was headed by Begum Abida Ahmed till her death, has been very active and its various plays well received by the people. We have also organized from time to time special programmes of musical presention of Ghalibs poetry by well known singers of the sub-continent. Mushaira is also a regular annual feature in which all eminent Urdu poets are invited.

 

The Institute also publishes the well-known six-month research journal “Ghalib Nama”. We have brought out a large number of research publications on Ghalib and his other eminent contemporaries. The library of the Institute contains rare manuscripts and important publication. Information technology has provided enormous facilities for research in all fields. We wish to benefit from it and equipping our Library accordingly.
